A digital nomad is a professional who has decided to break the chains of daily routine to immerse himself in an adventure without borders. He is the one who has embraced the freedom to work wherever you want without sacrificing your thirst for discovery and his desire to explore new horizons.
In fact, to become a digital nomad you only need a laptop and an internet connection and you can work in complete autonomy and freedom from any corner of the world.
For example, you can write an article on the beach, solve problems while admiring a breathtaking view from the top of a mountain or maybe brainstorm with colleagues from all over the world over a coffee in the central square of a big city.
There are in fact tons of jobs you can do as a digital nomad , whether as a freelance professional, an entrepreneur or solopreneur but also as an employee at a company.
Personally, I have been working full remote for many Bulk SMS Services in Ghana years, long before the terms “remote working” or “smart working” – cleared through customs during the Covid pandemic – were in common use.
How did I start? Well, traveling has always fascinated me (and who doesn’t fascinate?). I felt like I was suffering from that beautiful syndrome that is Wanderlust .
As Wikipedia reports:
Wanderlust indicates the desire to go elsewhere, to go beyond one’s world, to seek something else: a desire for exoticism, discovery and travel. It can reflect an intense desire for personal self-development through discovering the unknown, facing unexpected challenges, and learning about unfamiliar cultures and lifestyles.
And my ideal life was just that of chasing one horizon line after another .
But traveling and working wasn’t that easy when I started because there weren’t many jobs that could be done remotely. Not to mention that a stable internet connection, essential to be a digital nomad, was not as affordable for everyone (and above all, it was not as cheap!) as it is now.
Just think that during my first experiences of digital nomadism, I often worked in Internet Points (but do they still exist?!), places where there were computers with an Internet connection that you could use for an hourly fee.
Ok, I feel really old now
Fortunately, things have changed a lot since then and Leads Blue today having an internet connection with unlimited gigs costs very few euros.
Also because – let’s face it! – life is too short not to be fully lived . And if the life you are living right now doesn’t satisfy you enough, then you really should try the digital nomad way.
Indeed, becoming a digital nomad means being the master of your own personal and professional destiny, letting creativity mix with adventure and freedom, without geographical limits.
But how do you become a digital nomad? I’ll explain it to you right away.
